Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main subject and report several accurate figures, including the 51% share of members aged 18–64 and the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction. You also note that loans were generally above 20,000 in later years. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: children are not the second-largest membership group, since young adults account for 15% compared with children’s 22%, while the over-65 group is 12%. The loan trend is only broadly described; it rises from about 15,700 in 2007, fluctuates, and reaches its highest point in 2016. Report these key changes more clearly and distinguish membership figures from loan-category percentages to make the summary more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph reporting figures. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “While” attempt to connect information. However, the progression is limited because the overview mostly lists chart types rather than summarising the main patterns, and the final paragraph combines membership, category, and trend data without a clear sequence. Some linking is awkward or incomplete, as in “While, table show loan category,” and the bar-chart description is appended without specific year-to-year comparisons. Group the membership and category data logically, then describe the loan trend in a separate, connected section. Use linking words only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “loan categories,” “fiction,” and “bar chart,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “domin ent portion,” “old aged people,” “large number of loans taken,” and “over aged people.” These expressions make parts of the report less precise, particularly when describing proportions and loan totals. Aim for standard data-reporting collocations such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “the number of loans issued.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and use consistent labels such as “members aged 65 and over” rather than informal descriptions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is uneven, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as in more complex clauses. For example, “Pie chart have a dominent portion” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the bar graph show” also needs a singular verb. Articles and sentence boundaries are inconsistent in “While, table illustrate…” and “the bar graph show…”. The sentence beginning “The bar chart describes large number…” is difficult to follow because its structure does not clearly express the comparison. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clauses, then build longer sentences around clear comparisons. More reliable punctuation and sentence boundaries would also improve readability.
