Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The charts demonstrate the age of members of a public library named Little Chalfont and the total number of loans from 2007 to 2016, including the percentage of total loans of different types of books in the year 2016.
Overall, the library was popular among the adults aged between 18-64, whereas other age group shared small proportion each. Besides, number of loans fluctuated considerably over the time, with the highest amount of loans accounted for children's fiction and adult fiction in 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three visuals and give a relevant overview: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, while children’s and adult fiction lead the loan categories. The membership figures are mostly accurate, including 51% for working-age adults and 22% for children. However, the overview is not fully precise: the loan total generally rises over the period, with fluctuations, rather than fluctuating “considerably,” and the peak is about 21,700 in 2016. The account of the loan trend is also somewhat unclear and omits useful turning points, such as the fall after 2011 and subsequent recovery. The category discussion reports only the two leading shares, leaving the other categories unexplained. More precise comparisons and a clearer summary of the trend would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs addressing membership and loans. This makes the main topics easy to identify, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Regarding,” and “Furthermore” help signal progression. To make the organisation more effective, group related details more deliberately and avoid abrupt or repetitive transitions. For example, the final “Furthermore” introduces the fiction percentages after the loan trend without explaining how the two points relate. The trend sentence also compresses several stages into one long sequence, making the chronology harder to follow. Use separate, clearly ordered comparisons—for example, the rise to 2011, the decline, and the later recovery—and connect the category figures to the relevant chart.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “substantial rise,” “gradually decreased,” and “peaking,” which helps describe changes over time. The meaning is generally clear, but some word choices and collocations are imprecise or repetitive. “Made half of the share” is not a natural way to describe the 51% membership figure, and “highest amount of loans accounted for” is awkward when referring to categories. There are also spelling and form slips, including “figurr” and “childrens,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “stood at,” and “the total number of loans,” and check spelling and possessives carefully. This would make the description more precise without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “Overall” and the time sequence in the sentence beginning “Regarding the total number of loans.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions affect accuracy. For example, “other age group shared small proportion each” has problems with number and articles, while “children’s fiction and adult fictions was 38%” has faulty agreement and an incorrect plural form. The long trend sentence would also benefit from clearer clause boundaries and consistent tense. Practise plural agreement, articles, and sentence punctuation, and make sure each comparison has a clear grammatical subject. These corrections would improve control while preserving the range of structures you already attempt.
