Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant features of the 2016 charts, including the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, adult non-fiction at 13%, and children’s DVDs as the smallest category at 1%. You also note that adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group. However, the response is only 90 words, below the required 150, and it omits the loans trend from 2007 to 2016 entirely. The overview is incomplete: it does not clearly summarise the main patterns across all three visuals, and the age-group figures are not reported accurately or fully (children are 22%, young adults 15%, adults 18–64 51%, and those 65+ 12%). Develop a concise overview and support it with key figures from each chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic overall shape: an opening sentence, a paragraph beginning with “overall,” and a final contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” This gives the reader some indication of how the information is being presented. However, the ideas do not progress clearly across the three visuals: the loan categories are listed in a sequence, then the age groups are mentioned, while the line chart is not addressed. Several points run together because of missing spaces and punctuation, such as “38%. The secound” and “2%.The childern's.” The contrast marker “On the other hand” does not express a clear contrast here. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs and link related comparisons more clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “loan category,” “most popular,” “largest,” and “least value,” and the reader can generally understand which chart features you mean. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “the similar” for equal shares, “remained unchanged” for categories that simply have the same percentage, and “most popular age” for the largest age group. Spelling errors such as “catergories,” “secound,” and “childern” are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for accurate chart language such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “the largest proportion,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response relies mainly on short, simple statements, with little variety in sentence structure. There are frequent problems with sentence formation and punctuation, for example, “The chart illustrate give information” combines incompatible verb forms, while “overall, the age of library members in 2016 divided into four catergories” lacks a main verb. Agreement is also inaccurate in “The chart illustrate,” and articles and sentence boundaries are often missing or misplaced. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships unclear, although the basic meaning of several comparisons can still be understood. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then use accurate punctuation and a few controlled comparison structures.
