Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three visual elements and report several accurate figures, including the 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction and the 15,700 loans in 2007. You also correctly identify adults aged 18–64 as the largest membership group. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not clearly summarise the main pattern in loans over the full period, and the response stops after comparing 2007–2009. The membership figures are also confused: children account for 22%, not the second-largest group by headcount if compared with the stated 15% for young adults and 12% for older adults; make the proportions explicit. Cover the rise and fluctuations through 2016 to make the report more complete and better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is divided into paragraphs that broadly correspond to the membership chart, category table and line graph, which gives the reader a basic structure. Some sequencing is also clear, such as moving from the 2007 figure to 2008 and 2009. However, progression is uneven: the final paragraph ends after the first three years, leaving the graph’s later trend unreported. Connections between ideas are often simple or repetitive, and phrases such as “The illustrations below” and “The table on the right” rely on the page layout rather than clearly framing the information. Use a concise overview followed by logically grouped details, and link comparisons across the full time period.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “majority,” “fiction,” “non-fiction,” “loans” and “illustrates,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “the number of years against the total number of loans” and “the least number of people in the library.” There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, including “peolpe,” “agedd” and “ayt,” which reduce precision. Choose standard chart-reporting expressions and use them consistently: describe membership proportions, loan categories and changes in totals rather than referring vaguely to people or years. More precise vocabulary would make comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example the comparison beginning “In the year 2007,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic agreement and verb forms: “The illustrations below shows” should use a plural verb, while “They comprised of” has an incorrect construction. Tense also shifts in “young adults loans is 2% lower,” despite the data referring to 2016. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries need attention, as in “the the year 2016” and the long sentence comparing the 2007–2009 figures. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships less clear. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons and subordinate clauses.
