Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three visuals and provide a clear overview: adults form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the biggest loan share, and loans peak in 2016. Most category figures are reported accurately, including the 38% shares for both fiction categories and the 13% for adult non-fiction. However, the age figures for young adults and older adults are reversed: the chart shows 15% and 12%, respectively. The trend description also misses the dip and recovery in detail, and the final figure of 23,000 is higher than the chart’s approximate 21,700. The response addresses the task well overall, but more precise reporting and fuller coverage of the fluctuations would strengthen it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the membership and loan data. This makes the main information easy to locate, and sequencing expressions such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “Secondly” help guide the reader. The final paragraph also follows the timeline from 2007 to 2016. However, some linking is mechanical, and the overview’s points are compressed together rather than clearly distinguishing membership patterns from loan trends. The trend paragraph would progress more clearly if it described the rise, decline, and recovery in sequence, using accurate year references. More precise connections between comparisons would make cohesion smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “upward trend,” “slight decline,” “recovered,” “peaked,” and “category.” These choices show an attempt to vary language beyond basic repetition. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “highest number to attend library,” “old folks,” and “number of loan.” There are also spelling errors, including “ficiton” and “accumated,” and “soaring” overstates a modest increase. Aim for neutral, accurate chart language and check spelling carefully. Phrases such as “largest membership group” and “the total number of loans” would communicate the data more naturally and precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the response is generally understandable. The overview and data paragraphs show some control of comparison and time references. However, errors in sentence structure and verb forms recur: “the number of loans took” needs a passive construction, while “Children takes” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The fragment “Started with 16000 in 2007” also needs a subject and finite verb, and “Total number of loan having upward trend” is not a complete grammatical sentence. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent. Practise forming complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement and tense when describing figures across years.
