Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify two relevant features: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group, at 51%, and loans fluctuate over the period. You also note that fiction accounts for a large share of borrowing. However, the response addresses the charts only partially: it gives no figures or clear trend details for loans from 2007 to 2016, and it omits several important loan categories. The statement that young adults and people over 65 have “almost the same” membership shares is inaccurate: they are 15% and 12%, while children account for 22%. The final sentence is too general to serve as a meaningful overview. The response is also 8 words below the required minimum. Include a concise overview and accurate comparisons across all three visuals.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response, with an opening, separate discussion of membership and loans, and a concluding sentence. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview is mixed with details and the loan discussion breaks off at “But the”. The linking phrases “At the one hand” and “At the other hand” are used inaccurately, and “In addition” does not clearly connect the figures that follow. Paragraphing is limited, and the conclusion repeats a broad idea rather than summarising the main patterns. To improve, use a clear sequence: introduction, overview, then one paragraph for membership and one for loans, with accurate links between comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “members,” “loans,” and “fiction,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “count loans,” “persantage,” “flactuating,” and “children fictions.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “the loans that spend the members” and “the biggest side of persantage.” Use standard chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the “number of loans,” say that it “fluctuated,” and refer to “children’s fiction.” More precise terms for rises, falls, peaks, and proportions would help report the data clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “The biggest side of persantage contain adults which age between 18 to 64.” However, sentence structures are limited, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence formation occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. In “the percentage of library memberships high result shows,” the sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure; “It has the impressive 51 percent” also uses an unclear pronoun and article. The unfinished “But the” leaves a sentence incomplete, while punctuation and spacing are inconsistent. Practise complete subject–verb structures and use clear comparative patterns, such as “Adults aged 18–64 made up 51% of members.”
