Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three visuals and identify the main patterns: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories, and total loans rise overall despite fluctuations. The figures you give for the 51% adult group, 22% children, and the two 38% fiction categories match the data. Your overview is present, and the trend description is supported by selected figures from 2007, 2010 and 2016. To make the report more complete, include the other age groups or the notable 2016 category shares, and describe the loan trend more precisely: it peaks at about 21,700 in 2016 after several rises and falls, rather than simply reaching a maximum of nearly 22,000. Some details are therefore less fully reported than the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by discussion of the membership and category data, then the loan trend. Sequencing words such as “Overall,” “Firstly,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the three visuals, and the main comparisons are generally easy to locate. However, the organisation is somewhat mechanical, and several sentences are long or awkwardly connected, especially the overview sentence beginning “there are three different diagrams given.” The repeated use of “diagram” and “which gives information” also makes progression less smooth. For stronger cohesion, use concise topic sentences for each visual and connect comparisons directly, while ensuring that pronouns and clauses clearly refer to the relevant chart or figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “majority,” “category,” “borrowed,” “decreased,” and “increased.” The wording “no fixed pattern” conveys the fluctuations, although “fluctuated” would be more precise and natural for a chart report. There is some repetition of “diagram,” “gives information,” and “books,” and several collocations are awkward, such as “books borrowed by category” and “most borrowed books.” Spelling errors including “mebers,” “incresed,” and “whore” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for a broader set of precise reporting terms, such as “accounted for,” “share,” and “loan total,” and check spelling carefully so that your meaning is consistently clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. The opening “The provided charts gives” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the first diagram represent” also needs a plural subject and matching verb. The overview contains a run-on sequence of clauses, and “where there have been no fixed pattern” has an incorrect verb form and agreement. In the final paragraph, “as in 2007 nearly 16000 loans whore there where” is difficult to interpret because the clause structure and verb forms break down. Build accuracy by using shorter sentences for each comparison, checking singular/plural agreement, and proofreading verb forms and punctuation.
