Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main membership pattern and the two largest loan categories: adults aged 18–64 make up about half of members, while adult and children’s fiction each account for 38% of loans. You also describe the broad rise and fall in loans. However, some details are inaccurate: the total in 2016 was about 21,700, not 23,000, and the decline was not simply gradual through 2013, as loans rose again in 2012 before falling in 2013. The overview is relevant but the response gives limited detail on the loan-category breakdown and the decade-long trend. A more precise account of these features would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction, an overview, and then details about membership and loans. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “after that” help show relationships between points. However, the final standalone “overall” is unfinished and disrupts the ending, while the overview and supporting details are compressed into long sentences. The transition from member ages to loan categories and then to the trend could be clearer, for example by using separate paragraphs for the two charts and the table. Some linking is also mechanical, and the trend description would benefit from clearer sequencing of the rise, dip, and later recovery.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “represented,” “categories,” “fluctuated,” and “gradually,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, several inaccurate or awkward choices that reduce precision: “cursory glance” is unnatural in this report, “consisted with” is not the correct collocation, and “experienced a rise” is misspelled as “expericed.” “Adults fiction” and “children fiction” also need possessive forms. Spelling errors such as “throught” and “gradully” are noticeable. Aim for standard chart-report phrasing and check spelling and collocations so that the vocabulary supports accurate comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence that contrasts the membership and loan patterns with “whereas.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are evident. For example, “Rest of the half … consisted with” has problems with the article and verb pattern, and “children(22%) young adults … and adults” needs clearer punctuation and sentence structure. The phrase “represented 38% each from the total” also has an inaccurate grammatical construction. Capitalisation after the full stop in “after that” and the unfinished final “overall” affect punctuation and sentence boundaries. Review articles, prepositions, and sentence completion while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
