Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main subjects of all three visuals and give an overview that recognises the largest membership group and the leading loan categories. The figures that adults aged 18–64 make up the largest group and that children’s and adult fiction each account for 38% are accurate. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the lowest loan category is children’s DVDs at 1%, not young adults, and the age-group figures are percentages rather than unspecified quantities. The trend is also oversimplified: loans rose overall, but fluctuated after 2010 rather than increasing steadily, and the peak was in 2016. Develop the comparisons more fully by reporting key figures and noting these changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with further details. This helps the reader follow the broad organisation, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “However” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the final paragraph combines age-group information, loan-category figures, and the time-series trend without clear transitions, so the progression is difficult to follow. Some connections are also unclear, particularly “remain for young and above 5 age groups.” Group related information into separate, logically ordered sections and use references that make the comparisons explicit. This would make the overall arrangement more coherent and cohesion less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “members,” “categories,” “percentage,” and “gradually,” and the reader can generally identify the charts being described. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate enough to make parts difficult to understand. For example, “aquired largest member” does not clearly express the largest age group, while “the lowest number of loans on 2007” confuses a category with a year. Spelling errors such as “discribe,” “libraby,” and “chidlren” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling; alternatives such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” and “fluctuated” would help describe the data more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence beginning “Overall” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and tense are frequent enough to make some statements difficult to interpret. For instance, “the aquired largest member in libraby is between 18 to 64 age” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “the number of loans in 2007is began” combines incompatible verb forms. The sentence beginning “While” is also left without a complete main clause. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check past-tense forms and agreement before adding clauses.
