Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant headline features: adults form the largest membership group at 51%, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and total loans rise overall across the period. However, the response addresses the task only partially. It gives little detail about the age groups or the other loan categories, and the trend is oversimplified: loans fluctuate after 2010 rather than increasing steadily. The final sentence is unfinished, so the category comparison is not developed. The response also contains 98 words, below the required 150, which leaves the charts substantially under-reported. To improve, provide a complete overview and select key figures from all three visuals, including the smaller membership groups and the changes in loans over time.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening overview is followed by a paragraph beginning “First of all,” and the charts are mentioned in a recognisable order. However, progression is limited because the second paragraph stops mid-sentence (“children”), leaving the discussion incomplete and without a clear ending. Connections between points are also weak; “Furthermore” introduces another chart but does not establish a clear comparison, while repeated references to “in line graph” and “in table” make the flow mechanical. Use separate, complete paragraphs to group the membership and loan-category data, then describe the trend, with linking phrases that show comparison or contrast rather than simply adding information.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the visuals and communicate a few basic comparisons, using terms such as “pie,” “line graph,” “members,” “loans,” and “gradually.” However, the range is limited and some word combinations are inaccurate or awkward, including “illustrate below about” and “in pie explains.” “Climbs slowly” is understandable but not the most precise description of the overall pattern, which includes fluctuations. The repeated use of “in” and “total loans” also restricts variety. Aim for accurate chart language such as “shows,” “accounts for,” “rose,” and “fluctuated,” and use category labels precisely. This would make the report clearer and more natural without requiring overly advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, including an overview with several chart references, but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and agreement appear in “in pie explains that 51% library members were adults” and “number of loans were increases gradually.” The phrase “in 2007 15000 number of loans which climbs” is also incomplete as a sentence and shifts tense awkwardly. Missing articles and punctuation in “The pie, table, and line charts” further reduce accuracy. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow, while the short response offers few examples of controlled complex grammar. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, consistent past tense for the historical data, and accurate articles and punctuation.
