Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify several relevant figures from the category table, including the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction and the 6%, 1% and 13% figures. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the charts as a whole: it omits the member-age percentages and does not summarise the overall loan trend. The line-chart account is vague (“20 thousand plus”) and includes an inaccurate claim that 2008 and 2009 were the same, whereas the figures are approximately 19,000 in both years. The task is also five words below the required minimum. To improve, report the main patterns first, then support them with accurate comparisons and selected figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is some basic sequencing: you discuss the loan categories, then library members, and finally the trend in total loans. This gives the response a recognisable connection to the three visuals. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the progression is weakened by abrupt phrases such as “LET ME CLEAR ONE THINK” and “SO THATS IT.” Connections between details are often unclear, while repeated references to “the loans” do not help the reader follow the trend. Use a short introduction, a concise overview, and separate paragraphs for the table and charts. Linking phrases such as “By contrast” and “Over the period” can make comparisons and changes easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “total loans,” “category,” “percentage,” and “same percentage,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “large amount percentage,” “last targets achieve,” and “20 thousand plus.” Spelling errors, including “CHLIDRENS,” “ADIO,” and “RICHED,” also reduce clarity. Aim for accurate chart language and collocations: describe figures as “accounting for” a share, and use “rose,” “remained stable,” or “reached” to report trends. Check spelling and avoid conversational filler so that the vocabulary is more precise and appropriate for an academic summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to communicate several comparisons, including that children’s fiction and adult fiction have the same share, but most statements are fragments rather than complete, controlled sentences. For example, “THE MAIN TOPIC IS LIBRARY SO CHILDRENS FICTION 38%” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “2008 19 PLUS LOAN RICHED THE 2009 SAME IN 2008” makes the relationship between years difficult to understand. Articles, plural forms, and verb forms are often missing or inaccurate, and punctuation is largely absent. Practise writing complete sentences with a subject and verb, such as “Loans rose to about 19,000 in 2008 and remained at that level in 2009.” Then check tense and sentence boundaries.
