Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features: loans peaked in 2016, fiction accounted for the largest category shares, and adults aged 18–64 formed the largest membership group. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. The membership figures are percentages, but you describe them as “22 percent” and “15 percent” without clearly identifying the 12% share for members aged 65 and over. The trend is also oversimplified: loans rose from 2007, but they did not increase steadily or rapidly throughout; they fluctuated after 2010. Your overview is weakened by the confusing conclusion that adults are the “highest number of group,” which mixes membership and loan categories. Report the main comparisons more precisely and distinguish the three charts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs and generally moves from the loan categories to the yearly trend and then to membership, so the reader can identify the broad topics. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the opening combines the 2016 peak with category shares, while the final paragraph repeats these points without adding a useful summary. Linking expressions such as “Where,” “In the other chart,” and “So finally” are either awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Some references, including “chart 1,” “chart 2,” and “3 chart,” are confusing because the charts are not consistently numbered. Organise the response around a concise overview followed by clearly separated comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “loan amount,” “portion,” “fiction,” and “members,” which helps communicate the chart topics. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “captures large portion” and “are capturing more than the half” are unnatural ways to describe shares, while “conquering” does not fit the data. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “memebers,” “finaly,” and “synchronizly.” Use precise chart language consistently, such as “accounted for,” “share,” “membership,” and “number of loans,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences and use some clauses to connect information, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response hard to interpret. Examples include “Where children's and adult fiction captures large portion,” which lacks a complete, well-formed clause, and “15 percent are hold by young adult,” where the passive verb form is incorrect. Agreement and article use are also problematic in phrases such as “the loan amount … is lowest” and “greater then the any other loan amount.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly in the long opening sentence. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using controlled clauses.
