Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several relevant features, including the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, the largest membership group (adults aged 18–64), and the overall rise in loans by 2016. However, the overview is imprecise: loans did not simply rise steadily, as they fluctuated after 2010, and the lowest point was in 2007, not just “in start.” Some figures are inaccurate or unclear: the 2016 total was about 21,700, rather than around 21,000, and the fall in 2013 is not clearly quantified as 3%. You also omit the 2% young-adult category and give little detail about membership proportions. The response is four words below the required minimum. Include a fuller, accurate overview and support it with key figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about loan categories, and one about the trend over time. This gives the reader a general route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the overview combines membership and loan trends without clearly distinguishing them. Linking is limited and occasionally awkward, as in “Then comes adult non fuction” and “After that in 2013.” The final paragraph also moves through years without consistently showing how the figures compare. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each change explicitly—for example, contrast the 2013 dip with the subsequent recovery. More precise referencing would make the relationships between the charts easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “total number of loans,” “percentage,” “steady growth,” and “peak,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, such as “infomation,” “libray,” “incresesed,” and “non fuction.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “the lowest of the loan had taken” and “little decreased” do not express the intended comparisons clearly. Use standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “declined,” and “reached a high.” Check spelling carefully, and choose nouns and verbs that describe proportions and trends accurately. This would make the report more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to make some statements difficult to read. For example, “The charts shows” has subject–verb disagreement, while “The libray most members were adults” is missing a grammatical link between the subject and its description. In “Then there was a steady growth from 2008 t0 2012 the loans were reached,” two clauses are joined without suitable punctuation, and the verb form is incorrect. Articles, plurals, and tense patterns also need attention, as in “at its lowest point in start.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when describing the 2007–2016 data.
