Student answer (Band 5.5)

The provided pie chart and tables illustrates, the different age groups of library members and total loanns categories, and the bar chart depicts total number of loans by year in a public library in Chalfont town.

Overall, it is clear from the pie chart that, aults members are most inbolved with library, while children fiction's and adult fiction were popular categories for loans. By bar chart, total number of loans are fluctuated throughout the period.

In 2016, from pie chart, adults involved with library with 51 number of people, where, children were 22 and young adults were 15 and adults 65 over was only 12 which was least members. By tables, children's and adult fiction were most popular with 38%, while children DVDs were least famous with only 1%.

On the other hands, the total numbers of loans increased day by day before falling by 2013 and again it experienced upward trend and finished over 20,000 by the end 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three visuals and identify several important features: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and loans rise overall despite a dip. The figures you give for the age groups and the two fiction categories match the data. However, the overview is broad, and the trend description is not fully precise: loans do not simply increase “day by day”; they fluctuate, reaching a low point after 2011 before rising again. The response also omits useful comparisons, such as the near-equal 38% shares for adult and children’s fiction and the overall rise from about 15,700 to 21,700 loans. Develop these features more clearly to make the summary more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the membership and loan data. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. Some linking is effective, including “Overall” and “On the other hands,” although the latter is not a natural contrast here, since the final paragraph adds another chart rather than presenting an opposing point. Connections within sentences are sometimes unclear, particularly in “adults involved with library with 51 number of people, where…” and “By tables.” The overview also repeats information that is then given in the detail paragraph. Use clearer transitions and organise each body paragraph around a distinct visual or comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “age groups,” “popular categories,” “upward trend,” and “finished over 20,000,” so the main information is generally understandable. There are also attempts to vary wording, such as “experienced upward trend.” However, several inaccurate or informal choices reduce precision: “inbolved” is not the intended word, “least famous” is unsuitable for loan popularity, and “increased day by day” does not accurately describe annual fluctuations. Spelling errors such as “loanns” and “aults” are noticeable, while “bar chart” is less precise than “line graph” for the displayed trend. Choose standard chart-reporting collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a time clause describing the trend. The main message remains understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, the opening has faulty agreement and punctuation in “The provided pie chart and tables illustrates,” while “total number of loans are fluctuated” combines an incorrect verb form with subject–verb disagreement. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “adults involved with library with 51 number of people.” Several commas interrupt the sentence unnecessarily, including after “illustrates” and “chart.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, past-tense reporting, and complete sentence patterns; then proofread punctuation and articles.
