Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the charts’ general subjects and give a basic overview of the age profile and loan trend. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it omits the table showing loan categories entirely, and the age figures are not reported accurately. Children account for 22%, not “one-thired” (one-third), while adults aged 18–64 make up 51%. The loan description also ends with an inaccurate figure of 23,000; the total in 2016 is approximately 21,700. The trend is partly captured, but key changes and comparisons are underdeveloped. The response is 140 words, below the required 150. To improve, cover all three visuals, select accurate key figures, and give a fuller overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph about the loan chart. This helps the reader identify the broad stages of the report. However, progression is limited because the table is not discussed and the age-chart paragraph does not develop into a clear comparison of the groups. Linking words such as “while,” “although,” and “whereas” are attempted, but their relationships are sometimes unclear or repetitive. For example, “although the one-thired portion…” does not clearly connect the figures, and “furthermore” does not introduce a distinct point. Organise the report by visual or theme, and use linking expressions only when their logical relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “demographics,” “distribution,” “total number of loans,” and “gradual rise,” so the reader can recognise the topic. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the report less clear, such as “demoghrapics,” “overwiew,” “demostrated,” and “fluctuate.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “different kinds of images” and “stood at 23,000 numbers.” Use standard chart language such as “the charts show,” “accounted for,” and “the figure reached.” Check spelling carefully and choose precise terms for proportions and trends; this will make your descriptions more concise and easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “although,” and “whereas.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “The given charts gives” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the bar chart illustarate” also uses an incorrect verb form. The opening contains a run-on structure, and “the number of loan rised and remain stable” mixes incorrect forms and tenses. Punctuation is also unreliable, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses, checking agreement and consistent past-tense reporting.
