Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three chart topics and correctly report several figures, including the 38% shares for both fiction categories and the small shares for DVDs and audio books. However, the main features are not consistently selected or accurately described. The membership chart gives adults aged 18–64 as 51%, not a figure of 15,000–20,000; those numbers relate to annual loans. Children account for 22% of members, not 22% of loans, and the claim that borrowing rose rapidly from 2010 to 2016 is not supported: totals fluctuate around 19,000–22,000 after 2010. The overview should clearly compare the largest membership group and the overall loan trend, then support these with accurate data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, moves through membership and borrowing information, and ends with a brief trend statement. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the paragraphs do not clearly separate the charts, and several sentences combine unrelated or confusing comparisons. For example, “children with adults in age of 18-64” does not make the relationship between membership and loans clear, while “Moreover” introduces another membership figure without a clear link to the previous point. The final statement, “The overall trend was upward,” repeats an idea without specifying which chart it refers to. Group the information by chart and use clear comparisons and references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, such as “membership,” “borrowings,” “percentage,” and “overall trend,” and you attempt to describe change with “upward” and “decline.” However, the range and control of vocabulary are limited, and several choices make the meaning unclear. Phrases such as “largest numbers of accounting,” “on higher side,” and “rapidly hike” are not natural in this context; use expressions such as “accounted for the largest share,” “represented a high proportion,” and “rose.” “Bookrs” is also misspelled, and “count of loans” is less precise than “proportion of loans.” Aim for accurate, conventional language for describing proportions and trends rather than forcing informal or awkward expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms frequently make relationships between ideas hard to understand. For example, “Adults of age 16-64 have the largest numbers of accounting 15,000 to 20,000” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “children with adults in age of 18-64 has been rapidly hike” has problems with agreement, verb form, and sentence construction. The past-tense description “was taken loan” is also not formed correctly. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, including the full stop joined to “where.” Practise building clear comparison sentences with a subject, accurate verb, and figure—for example, “Adults aged 18–64 made up 51% of members.”
