Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the three visuals and report several membership figures accurately, including the largest group (adults aged 18–64 at 51%) and the smallest (those aged 65 and over at 12%). However, the response is incomplete: it stops mid-sentence while introducing the loans graph and gives no account of the loan trend or the 2016 loan categories, so key parts of the task are not covered. The overview is also vague and mostly repeats what each visual shows rather than summarising the main findings. In addition, the response is 13 words below the required minimum. To improve, complete the report and highlight the overall rise in loans and the dominance of fiction in the category breakdown before adding selected details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening identifies the visuals, a separate paragraph gives an overview, and another reports membership figures. This gives the reader some sense of structure. However, progression is limited because the overview largely repeats the introduction, and the final paragraph begins discussing the graph but ends abruptly at “from 2007 t”. As a result, the information is not developed into a complete, logically ordered report. Linking is also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “The graph shows” and “The pie chart”. Use clear paragraphs for the overview, membership data, loan trend and category shares, and connect comparisons rather than simply listing each visual.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “age wise distribution”, “annually” and “category”, and the reader can generally identify the intended subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings are inaccurate or awkward, such as “ditribution”, “loan taken” and “age wise information”. “The table represent total loan by category” also lacks a natural collocation for describing the data. These issues make the report less precise, although its main meaning remains understandable. Build a more accurate set of chart-description phrases, such as “the proportion of members”, “the number of loans” and “accounted for”, and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast between the pie chart and graph in the opening. However, control is inconsistent, with frequent agreement and sentence-structure errors. For example, “The pie chart demonstrate” should use a singular verb, while “the table represent” has the same agreement problem. The construction “which is consists of” is not grammatical, and “The last group include of age 64 and above only have 12 percent” contains several faulty patterns that obscure the relationship between the group and its share. The final sentence is also incomplete. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and simpler comparison structures, then check that every sentence has a complete main clause.
