Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify some relevant features, including the adult membership group as the largest and children’s and adult fiction as major loan categories. However, the overview is inaccurate: loans did not peak in both 2011 and 2016; the total was highest in 2016, after fluctuating over the period. Several figures are also misreported or unclear: adults aged 18–64 were 51%, children 22%, young adults 15%, and those aged 65+ 12%, whereas your figures for teenagers and older people are reversed. The category comparison is unfinished, and the trend chart receives almost no supporting detail. The response is also 37 words below the required minimum, leaving important information underdeveloped. Cover all three visuals accurately and complete the comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an opening sentence, an overview, and a paragraph with details. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and “Overall” signals the summary clearly. However, the final paragraph ends with an incomplete list (“followed by non-fiction, DVDs, Young adults,”), so the discussion does not reach a clear conclusion. The chart information is not grouped systematically: the membership figures, loan categories, and decade-long trend need clearer separation or orderly comparison. Some linking, such as “While,” creates a fragment rather than a complete contrast. Use one paragraph for the overview and separate, logically ordered detail paragraphs, with complete sentences and clear references to each chart.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “age groups,” “loans,” “adults,” “fiction,” and “non-fiction,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “loans taken from library” and “51% of strength.” Spelling errors—including “Childern’s,” “categroy,” and “Teenages”—also reduce precision. The phrase “most of the library members” is understandable but less natural than “the largest proportion of members.” Aim for accurate chart language such as “accounted for,” “made up,” and “the proportion of loans,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish membership shares from loan shares.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and a more complex contrast, for example, “While childern accounted nearly half of adults with 22%.” However, this construction is incomplete because “While” introduces a dependent clause without a main clause. There are also recurring errors in agreement and sentence structure: “Pie chart and Bar graph gives” should use a plural subject and verb, while “38% of loan were taken” needs a plural noun and a suitable verb pattern. Capitalisation is inconsistent, and the final sentence is unfinished, which makes the relationships between ideas unclear. Practise complete comparisons and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms. A wider range of accurate sentence patterns would make the data easier to follow.
