Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify relevant features, including the 51% share of adults and the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction. However, the response addresses the charts only partially: it gives no account of the loan trend across 2007–2016, and the claim that loans saw their “largest rise” in 2016 is not supported by the data. The age-group figures are also incomplete or inaccurate: children account for 22%, but the response omits young adults and people aged 65 and over, and “adults” should be specified as the 18–64 group. The response is 128 words, below the required 150, and ends mid-sentence. To improve, provide a complete overview and select key figures from all three visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview beginning “Overall,” and a detail paragraph introduced by “To commence with.” This gives the reader some guidance, and “Meanwhile” and “On the other hand” attempt to connect comparisons. However, progression is incomplete because the response stops during “adult audio books represe” and never develops the line graph information. The overview’s claim about the largest rise is not followed by supporting detail, while the body shifts between age groups and loan categories without a clear plan. Organise the response into a complete overview and focused detail paragraphs, grouping related figures together and using linking phrases to show comparisons accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “age groups,” “distinct categories,” “share,” “trailing behind,” and “largest rise.” These choices show an attempt to describe and compare data, and the meaning is generally recoverable. Some collocations and word forms are inaccurate or awkward, however: “dominated chart of age groups,” “recorded for 51% of the share,” and “the largest loan” are not natural ways to report these figures. “Catgories” is also misspelled, and the final word is cut off. Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “the proportion of loans,” and “loan volume,” and proofread spelling and completion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes some complex forms, such as “Meanwhile, children fiction and adult fiction have recorded the largest loan, following by adult non-fiction,” and the introductory sentence successfully lists the three visuals. However, several sentences show errors in structure, tense, agreement, or punctuation. “To commence with, adults are the frequent visitors of the library, they recorded…” joins two independent clauses with a comma; “trailing behind is children” has faulty agreement and inversion; and “have recorded” is an unsuitable tense for figures from 2016. The final sentence is incomplete, so its structure cannot be followed. Use clear, complete sentences, maintain past tense for the reported data, and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
