Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main pattern that sodium and saturated fat peak at dinner, and you report several figures accurately, including dinner (43% and 37%) and lunch (29% and 26%). However, the response addresses the charts only partially: the added-sugar pattern, a key contrast, is not described at all, and the overview is incomplete. The statement that breakfast and snacks have lower sodium and saturated fat is broadly relevant, but the final overview sentence trails off and does not clarify the comparison. The response also contains 137 words, below the required 150. To improve, include all three nutrients, highlight that added sugar is highest in snacks (42%), and complete the comparisons with accurate figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction, followed by an overview and a detail paragraph. The use of “Overall” and “While” signals an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is unclear because the overview ends with the unfinished phrase “people consumed,” and the final paragraph combines several comparisons in a long, difficult-to-follow sentence. Connectors such as “whereas” and “while” are not used to establish clear relationships, and “in both” is ambiguous. A clearer structure would give the overview as a complete paragraph, then report the three nutrients in a logical order, using separate sentences and explicit comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “pie charts,” “average share,” “accounted for,” and “consumed,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing difficult to read, such as “protine,” “suagr,” “categeroy,” “higest,” and “soudum.” Some expressions are also unnatural or unclear, including “individual eat food most of time” and “less comsumed timeing.” Use precise chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe percentages as the “proportion of nutrient intake” and use “highest” or “lowest” to compare meal categories.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in the introduction (“which could be not good if consumed to much”) and a contrast in the overview. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make relationships unclear. For example, “The sodium nutrients and saturated fat was mostly consumed” has subject–verb disagreement, while “in the snacks and breakfast timr people consumed less … and in breakfast and lunch time people consumed” is incomplete and lacks a clear grammatical structure. The final detail sentence also joins several comparisons without clear sentence boundaries. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation before adding subordinate clauses.
