Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You report the main meal categories and include several accurate figures, such as sodium at 43% for dinner and added sugar at 42% for snacks. However, the overview is unclear and does not identify the key contrast: sodium and saturated fat peak at dinner, while added sugar peaks at snacks. The phrase “all data shows fluctuated” does not describe the chart accurately, since the figures show different distributions rather than a general fluctuation. Some comparisons are present, but the response mostly lists values and does not clearly summarise the overall pattern. It also contains fewer than the required 150 words. To strengthen the report, give a precise overview and compare the three nutrients directly, while ensuring the response meets the task’s minimum length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and details about the three nutrients. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “To begin” and “In contrast” signal movement between points. However, progression is weakened by the repeated pattern of listing figures and by connectors that do not always show a clear relationship. For example, “after that” suggests a sequence in time, although the chart compares meal categories, not events. The overview also does not prepare the reader for the details that follow. Grouping the dinner figures for sodium and saturated fat together, then contrasting them with the snack peak for sugar, would create a clearer line of comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “approximately,” “consumed,” and “in contrast,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. “Local consumed” does not express the intended idea, and “a huge size of snaks” is not a natural way to describe a percentage. The repeated use of “public used” also makes the report sound imprecise. There are spelling errors such as “flucuated” and “snaks.” Use concise, standard expressions for chart descriptions, such as “the proportion of added sugar in snacks” and “accounted for,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, but control is uneven, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “people uses” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “Overall, it is evident that, people…” has unnecessary punctuation and an awkward clause structure. Several sentences omit articles or use incomplete grammatical patterns, as in “saturated fat consumed by public in snaks 21%.” The final paragraph also shifts between sentence fragments and clauses joined with commas, making the relationships between ideas unclear. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, for example, “Saturated fat accounted for 37% of dinner consumption.” More accurate sentence boundaries and agreement would make the figures easier to understand.
