Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify a relevant overall pattern: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while added sugar is most prominent in snacks. You also report dinner’s sodium and saturated-fat figures accurately (43% and 37%). However, the response covers only a small part of the chart: it does not give the snack figure of 42% for added sugar, and the claim that breakfast is “the same in all” is inaccurate, since its shares are 14% for sodium and 16% for each of the other nutrients. The task is also substantially under the required 150 words, leaving the comparisons and key data underdeveloped. Add a fuller overview and compare all four meal types across the three nutrients.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall shape: an opening description and an overview followed by a sentence about dinner and breakfast. The use of “Overall” helps signal the main pattern, and “respectively” links the two dinner figures to the nutrients. However, the ideas do not progress into a complete account of the charts, and the final sentence combines several comparisons without clear separation. The contrast introduced by “While” is also not integrated smoothly. Organise the report into a clear introduction, overview, and detail paragraphs, grouping the figures by meal or by nutrient. Use linking phrases such as “By contrast” to make comparisons explicit and avoid packing unrelated details into one sentence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “average amounts,” “proportion,” “consumption,” and “respectively,” which helps communicate the subject and the reported figures. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or forms make the meaning less natural, such as “ratio” for chart percentages and “dominant in the dinner.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “hamful” and “consumtion,” and the phrase “usual meals” is imprecise for this chart. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main point, but they reduce clarity and control. Practise accurate collocations for describing percentages and vary terms such as “share,” “percentage,” and “proportion.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both a longer opening sentence and a comparison using “While,” but the structures are not consistently controlled. For example, “The pie charts illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “the average amounts of nutrients in a usual meals” has problems with articles and number. In “the added sugar taking a large proportion,” the verb form does not create a complete clause; “the dinner meal contain” also has incorrect agreement. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are weak, particularly where “23%while” runs into the next idea. Use shorter, complete sentences first, checking that each has a subject and finite verb, then add controlled comparisons. Proofread agreement, articles, and punctuation.
