Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the charts. You successfully highlight the key trends, such as the high sodium content in dinner and the high sugar content in snacks. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the data. For instance, while you mention the percentages, you could improve by grouping the nutrients more effectively to show the overall nutritional profile of each meal type. The overview is present but could be more analytical regarding the health implications rather than just stating they are unhealthy.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs for each meal type. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the data. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Breakfast includes', 'Lunch contains', 'Snack is'). To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly, such as 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', or 'Conversely', which would help the reader follow the comparisons between the different nutrients more easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic descriptors like 'mostly occupied', 'major contribution', and 'filled with'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'qual proportions' (likely meant 'equal') and 'os' (a typo for 'is'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'constitute', 'account for', or 'proportionate'. The current range is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'leading it a unhealthy item' (should be 'making it an unhealthy item') and 'comparitively' (spelling error). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of articles would greatly improve the accuracy of your writing.
