Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the highest and lowest percentages for the three nutrients across the four meal types. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the depth of the analysis. While the main trends are identified, the comparison between categories is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview of the data. The information is presented, but the lack of sufficient length prevents a more thorough development of the key features, resulting in a score that reflects a partial but relevant attempt at the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by frequent errors in sentence structure and punctuation. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand' and 'Furthermore' are used, but they are often applied incorrectly or in a way that does not effectively link the ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of information feels disjointed. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'nutreints', 'suger', 'diner', and 'luch'. The range of words is basic, and there is a lack of precision in describing the data. For example, using 'taking' instead of 'consumption' or 'intake' limits the academic tone required for Task 1. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'account for', 'peak at', and 'minimal', while paying closer attention to spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people taking unhealthy food'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence fragments. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences with errors in word order and punctuation. For instance, the phrase 'in which sodium and saturated nutrients are highly involve' is grammatically incorrect. Improving your control over basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb forms and pluralisation will significantly improve your score.
