Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the charts. You have successfully identified key data points for sodium, saturated fats, and added sugars across the four meal categories. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the nutrients rather than just listing percentages. For instance, noting that dinner is the primary source for two of the three nutrients would strengthen the overview. The summary is accurate, but the inclusion of some minor errors in data interpretation (e.g., stating 26% and 37% for saturated fat in dinner and lunch, when the chart shows 37% for dinner and 26% for lunch) slightly affects the precision of the report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You have used some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Meanwhile', and 'In contrast' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'the former one is 16% and later is 19%', which could be phrased more naturally to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'proportion', 'nutrients', and 'consumed'. There are some instances of awkward word choice or minor errors, such as 'maximum unhealthy nutrients can be observed' and 'higher then' (should be 'than'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'percentage' to avoid repetition and demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'All of that can be unhealthy' (should be 'All of these'), '29% Sodium consumed by Lunch' (missing auxiliary verb 'is'), and 'USA prefer' (should be 'The USA prefers'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with sentence structure and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on consistent verb usage and article placement will help improve your accuracy.
