Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all three nutrients and provides a clear overview of the main trends. You successfully identified that dinner is the primary source of sodium and saturated fats, while snacks are the main source of added sugars. However, the report lacks precision in some areas. For instance, stating 'breakfast have least choice' is unclear, as the charts show percentages, not 'choices'. Additionally, some data points are slightly inaccurate, such as describing 23% as 'approximately a fifth' (which is 20%). To reach a higher band, ensure that data comparisons are mathematically precise and that the overview highlights the most significant differences rather than just listing details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'However', and 'In terms of', which help the flow. However, the use of referencing is occasionally weak; for example, 'compare with other' is grammatically incomplete and lacks a clear referent. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the nutrients, but the transition between the discussion of sodium/saturated fats and added sugars could be smoother. The overall progression of ideas is clear, but the mechanical nature of some linking phrases prevents a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'consumed', and 'saturated fat'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors. For example, '43% of sodium is account for dinner' should be 'accounts for' or 'is accounted for by'. The phrase 'people eaten it' is grammatically incorrect and imprecise. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'constitutes', 'comprises', or 'the highest proportion', and ensure that your word forms (e.g., 'account' vs 'accounted') are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('breakfast have' instead of 'breakfast has'), incorrect verb forms ('43% of sodium is account for'), and missing articles or prepositions. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered 'error-free' in the majority of sentences. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
