Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted that dinner is the primary source of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks are highest in added sugar. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more analytical approach to the data. For instance, while you mention the percentages, you could have more effectively grouped the data to highlight the contrast between the meals. The overview is present but could be more concise and integrated. Overall, the response is accurate and addresses the prompt well, though it lacks the sophisticated synthesis required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Then comes to', 'Now let talk about'). The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, and the use of punctuation is inconsistent, which affects the flow. While there is a logical progression from the overview to specific details, the linking words could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion of the text. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate the different meal categories more clearly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the main points clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'nutrients', 'sodium', 'saturated fat', and 'added sugar'. However, there is a lack of variety in your word choice, and some phrasing is unnatural or imprecise, such as 'it is not bad than sodium' or 'the consume percentage'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends and comparisons, avoiding repetitive structures and basic descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally hinder the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'dinner contain', 'snack hold'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'The three pie chart illustrates that how much percentages'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining your sentence construction to ensure that complex structures are used accurately.
