Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three nutrients across four meal types. You successfully highlight the key trends, such as the high sodium and saturated fat content in dinner compared to the high sugar content in snacks. However, the analysis is slightly hindered by some inaccurate reporting of the data (e.g., stating 29% for lunch sodium when the chart shows 29% for lunch, but describing it as 'greater than the proportion of other two meals accept dinner' is slightly confusing). To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more precise and that the summary clearly distinguishes between the three nutrients throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', 'Furthermore', and 'Moving further' to transition between ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'which is similar to the percent in breakfast', where the connection to the previous clause could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'nutrients', and 'saturated fat'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'add on snack', 'night meal', and 'masses of USA'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and academic phrasing. For example, instead of 'night meal', use 'dinner' or 'evening meal', and ensure that verbs like 'add' are used correctly in the passive voice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Lunch contain', 'meal contains'), article usage, and prepositions (e.g., 'in USA' instead of 'in the USA'). There are also some punctuation and spelling slips, such as the double 'is' in 'snack is is 21'. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 5.5–6.0 range. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and article usage would be highly beneficial.
