Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three nutrients across the four meal types. You successfully highlighted the key trends, such as sodium and saturated fat peaking at dinner, while added sugar is highest during snacks. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the data. For instance, while you mention the percentages, the comparisons could be more analytical to better highlight the relationships between the categories. The overview is present but could be more clearly integrated to provide a stronger summary of the overall trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Next' and 'Another substance', to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some sentences feel disjointed. For example, the transition between the sodium and saturated fat sections within the same paragraph could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and flexible to improve the overall progression of the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different nutrients.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'consumption', and 'respectively'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'numbers of ratio who is eating sodium substance' and 'dinner has been showed up at 23%'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('dinner has been showed up'), incorrect tense usage ('the percentage has been exact similar'), and awkward phrasing ('the numbers of ratio who is eating'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, you should focus on consistent verb tense usage and refining sentence structure to ensure that complex sentences are constructed accurately without unnecessary wordiness or grammatical slips.
