Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all three nutrients and provides a clear overview of the main trends. You successfully identified that dinner is the primary time for sodium and saturated fat intake, while snacks are the peak time for sugar. However, the report lacks precision in some comparisons. For instance, you mention sugar has 'minimal use in lunch after breakfast', but the data shows 19% for lunch and 16% for breakfast, which is not a significant difference. Additionally, the description of the data is somewhat repetitive, listing percentages without fully synthesising the information. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more analytical rather than just a list of figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In contrast' to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final paragraph where the sentence structure makes it difficult to follow the comparison between sugar intake at lunch and breakfast. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'predominantly', 'populace', and 'minimal'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'illustrates regarding' (should be 'illustrates'), 'not good for a health' (should be 'unhealthy'), and 'on high amount' (should be 'in high amounts'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to data description and ensure you use articles and prepositions correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('all of which is not good', 'charts illustrates') and punctuation errors (spacing before parentheses). While these errors are frequent, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To move to a higher band, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and article usage, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater precision.
