Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. However, the response is under the 150-word minimum requirement, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the analysis. While the key trends are identified, the lack of sufficient length means the report feels somewhat rushed and lacks the depth required for a higher band. The overview is present, but the data reporting could be more detailed to meet the task requirements fully.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and mechanical. For example, the transition between the discussion of sodium and saturated fat is abrupt. There is a reliance on simple sentence structures to connect ideas rather than using a variety of linking words or referencing techniques to improve the flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'highest', 'lowest', and 'percentage' repeatedly. While the meaning is clear, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more varied ways of describing data trends, such as 'account for', 'comprise', or 'constitute', and use more precise adjectives to describe the differences in the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in the usa' should be 'in the USA') and punctuation issues. Additionally, there are subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'snacks contributes' instead of 'snacks contribute'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score in this criterion.
