Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the charts and provided a clear overview. You included data points to support your descriptions, which is essential for Task 1. However, the response could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than just listing the data for each meal. For instance, noting that sodium is the most prominent nutrient in dinner compared to its lower presence in snacks would strengthen the analysis. You have covered all parts of the task well, and the information is accurate based on the provided charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Meanwhile', and 'However' to link ideas effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate, separating the general trends from the specific data points. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the information is easy to follow. To reach a higher band, you could vary your cohesive devices further to avoid slightly repetitive structures when introducing new data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'nutrient content', 'cursory glance', and 'respectively'. The vocabulary is accurate and allows for clear communication. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or synonyms to avoid repeating phrases like 'at a percentage of'. Using more varied reporting verbs or descriptive adjectives would help elevate the lexical range to a higher level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

Your grammar is generally accurate, and you use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are no significant errors that impede communication. You correctly use comparative structures and passive voice where appropriate, such as 'is consumed in'. To improve, ensure that your subject-verb agreement remains consistent, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative clauses, to demonstrate greater grammatical flexibility.
