Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the nutrients and the time periods. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the highest and lowest values, the comparison between the nutrients is limited. For example, you state that sodium and added sugar are 'nearly half', but you do not provide a clear overview or synthesize the data effectively. To improve, ensure you group information logically rather than listing facts for each nutrient separately. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully summarize the key trends observed across the three categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Thirdly', but these are used in a mechanical and repetitive way. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is a bit abrupt, and the final paragraph feels disconnected from the rest of the text. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas flows more naturally between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You frequently repeat phrases like 'most number of percentage' and 'least one'. Using more specific terminology such as 'peak consumption', 'proportion', or 'minimal intake' would enhance the quality of your writing. There are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'the above given charts', which is slightly unnatural. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on more precise collocations related to data description will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'All the three nutrients have separate percentage' should be 'All three nutrients have separate percentages'. There are also issues with punctuation, such as missing commas after introductory phrases and inconsistent capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall flow. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
