Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response successfully identifies the main features of the charts and provides relevant comparisons between the nutrient levels in different meals. You have clearly highlighted the highest and lowest values for each category, which satisfies the requirements of the task. However, the overview could be more analytical; rather than just listing the meals, you could have noted the general trend that dinner and lunch are consistently the most nutrient-dense (and thus potentially unhealthy) across all three categories. The data is presented accurately, and the comparison between meals is logical and well-supported by the figures provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific nutrients. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In case of added sugar' and 'While', to link your points. However, the cohesion is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of sodium and saturated fat in the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words would help the flow of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'consistently', and 'illustrate' effectively. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the healthiest meal consisting the lowest percentage' (should be 'consisting of') and 'Lunch is the second highest meal that with saturated fat' (which is grammatically awkward). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, there is limited use of less common or more sophisticated lexical items that would elevate the response to a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, subject-verb agreement issues are present, such as 'Snack and breakfast has' (should be 'have') and 'Snack contain' (should be 'contains'). Additionally, there are minor errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'the healthiest meal' and 'the presence of maximum saturated fat'. Despite these errors, the communication is not impeded, and the majority of your sentences are understandable.
