Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the charts and provided relevant comparisons. You covered all three nutrients and their distribution across the four meal types. However, the report is somewhat mechanical, listing the percentages for each category rather than synthesising the data into a more analytical summary. To improve, focus on grouping the data more effectively—for example, by highlighting that dinner is the primary source for both sodium and saturated fats, while snacks dominate added sugar intake. This would demonstrate a more sophisticated approach to reporting data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical, relying heavily on 'firstly', 'next', and 'lastly'. The transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt, and the referencing (e.g., 'Next pie chat being illustrated') is slightly awkward. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, but there are several errors in word choice and spelling. For instance, you used 'launch' instead of 'lunch' and 'snake' instead of 'snacks'. Additionally, the phrase 'pie chat' is used repeatedly; using synonyms like 'chart', 'diagram', or 'graph' would improve the variety. Some collocations are also slightly unnatural, such as 'consumes a majority section'. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more precise terminology for data reporting will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
Your writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'three nutritional substances such as... each presented in a pie charts') and incorrect preposition usage. There are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'which is represented by sodium', which is not the most accurate way to describe a chart. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency, and try to incorporate more varied sentence structures with greater precision.
