Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to address the task requirements. Instead of summarizing the data provided in the charts regarding sodium, saturated fats, and added sugars, the student provides a general, subjective essay about the importance of healthy eating and the potential dangers of poor diet. There is no mention of the specific nutrient percentages or the comparison between the three categories of nutrients as requested. The response is entirely off-topic in terms of data analysis, which is the core requirement of an Academic Task 1 report. Consequently, the response does not meet the criteria for reporting main features or making relevant comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into two paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is not logical in the context of a data report. While the student uses transition words like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly', these are used to structure a personal opinion piece rather than an analytical report. There is no clear logical flow related to the data, and the connection between the introduction and the subsequent paragraph is weak. The lack of focus on the actual task makes the overall structure ineffective for the required format.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student uses basic terms such as 'good', 'healthy', 'fit', and 'harmful' repeatedly. There is no attempt to use vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'significant', 'majority', or 'trend'. Furthermore, there are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'supply a time to time food' and 'harmful decease' (likely intended as 'disease'). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas or describe statistical information accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'food is one of the main source', and awkward sentence structures, such as 'we have to supply a time to time food for our body'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and incorrect capitalization. The range of structures is limited to simple and compound sentences, with no successful attempts at complex grammatical forms. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read at times.
