Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some key features, such as the high sodium and saturated fat content in dinner and the high sugar content in snacks, the analysis is incomplete. The final sentence is unfinished, and the overall summary lacks the depth required for a Band 6 or higher. To improve, ensure you cover all data points clearly and provide a complete overview that synthesizes the information rather than just listing percentages. The response is also under-length, which limits the ability to fully develop the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete final sentence and repetitive phrasing. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', but they are often used mechanically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'USA is consuming the highest proportion of sodium from dinner', which lacks a smooth transition from the previous point. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data comparison.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'consume' or 'consuming' throughout the text, which restricts the range of your language. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'snack has more proportion' instead of 'a higher proportion'. The phrase 'in compare to' is also incorrect; it should be 'in comparison to'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'the majority of', and avoid repeating the same verbs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of the text. Examples include 'The given pie chart illustrate' (subject-verb agreement error), 'three different type' (should be 'types'), and 'saturated fat is mostly get from dinner' (incorrect passive voice construction). The sentence structure is largely simple, and the attempt at complex structures often results in errors. The final sentence is incomplete, which is a significant issue. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, correct use of articles, and ensuring that all sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
