Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the requirements of an Academic Task 1 report. Instead of providing an objective summary of the data, the response includes significant amounts of irrelevant personal opinion and advice, such as 'We all know that there is a limit of everything'. Furthermore, the data reporting is incomplete; you omitted the 'saturated fats' category entirely and failed to provide a clear overview or comparison of the three nutrients. To improve, focus strictly on describing the trends and key features of the charts without adding personal commentary or moralizing about health.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response is written as a single, long paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of logical progression, and the transition between the introduction and the data description is abrupt. Cohesive devices are largely absent or used in a repetitive, mechanical way, such as the frequent use of 'so' to connect ideas. To improve, you should organize your report into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and specific details. Use a wider variety of linking words like 'in contrast', 'furthermore', or 'whereas' to connect your sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic phrases like 'consuming a large amount' and 'in a day meal'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'sugar is also consuming', which is grammatically incorrect and imprecise. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the data effectively. To reach a higher band, try to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'proportion', or 'fluctuate', and avoid repeating the same verbs and nouns throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the graphs shows'), incorrect verb forms ('sugar is also consuming'), and punctuation errors, such as unnecessary spaces before commas. The sentence structures are mostly simple or repetitive, lacking the complexity required for higher bands. Many sentences are run-on, making the text feel disjointed. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using correct punctuation before attempting more complex structures.
