Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the charts, such as the dominance of sodium and saturated fats in dinner and the high sugar content in snacks. However, the response lacks a clear overview that synthesizes the data effectively. The inclusion of personal commentary, such as 'It shows many side effects if they are eaten in huge quantity,' is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 response, which should remain objective and focused solely on the data provided. While you have covered the key trends, the analysis could be more precise by grouping the data more logically rather than listing percentages in a repetitive manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In detail, firstly,' and 'Interestingly in last,' feel forced and do not flow naturally. The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words that connect ideas logically rather than just signaling the start of a new point. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall flow needs more sophistication to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. You rely heavily on basic verbs like 'is used,' 'consumed,' and 'added.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'the usage of sodium... mostly seen in dinner' and 'snack in consist of sodium.' Using more varied terminology to describe trends—such as 'account for,' 'constitute,' 'predominate,' or 'a significant proportion'—would enhance the quality of your writing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'the average percentage of unhealthy meals which made up of three types of nutrients' is grammatically incorrect. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'in consist of' and 'as comparative to other.' While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered accurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors will help improve your score.
