Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main features of the charts and provides relevant comparisons. You have correctly highlighted the dominance of sodium and saturated fats in dinner and lunch, as well as the high added sugar content in snacks. The overview is clear and sets the tone for the report. However, the response could be improved by grouping the data more logically rather than listing percentages for each meal time sequentially. While all parts of the task are addressed, some of the comparisons, such as the specific percentages for breakfast, could be more concisely integrated to improve the flow of information and highlight the key trends more effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'With regard to', and 'followed by' to link ideas. However, the paragraphing is slightly unbalanced, as the second paragraph is quite dense. Additionally, some transitions feel a bit mechanical. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus—for example, grouping meals by nutrient profiles rather than just listing them chronologically—and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect sentences more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'constitutes', and 'consumed'. There is some repetition of phrases such as 'proportion of' and 'percentage of'. To improve, try to vary your vocabulary by using synonyms like 'share', 'intake', 'levels', or 'figures'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band. Avoid repeating the same sentence structures and word choices when describing the data points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some minor punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., '43%,while'). You have a good grasp of basic grammar, but there are occasional slips in article usage and sentence construction. For instance, 'in USA' should be 'in the USA'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for small mechanical errors and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures to demonstrate greater grammatical control.
