Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three nutrients across the four meal types. You successfully highlight the key trends, such as sodium and saturated fats peaking at dinner, while added sugar is most prevalent in snacks. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more analytical rather than just listing the data points. For example, noting the contrast between the peak of added sugar in snacks versus the other nutrients would strengthen the response. Overall, the main features are clearly presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Furthermore' and 'In terms of', to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the body paragraphs could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the comparisons between the nutrients. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly clunky, which impacts the overall fluency of the progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportional overview', 'prevalent', and 'contribute'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the percentages greatly differ from sodium' (should be 'differ from those of sodium') and 'mostly prevelant' (spelling error). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the control is not yet fully sophisticated. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure spelling is accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'in in typical meals', 'the lowest percentage of added sugar is being in breakfast', and 'as for added sugar is concerned'. These errors, while not impeding communication, occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions to ensure your writing is more polished and error-free.
