Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the charts. However, the analysis is hampered by significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that 'breakfast was most dominant' in all three charts, which is incorrect; the charts show dinner is the highest for sodium and saturated fat. Additionally, the description of the data is often confusing, such as the claim that 'sodium and saturated fat the dinner nutrient was accounted was 43% and 37%'. While you attempt to make comparisons, the lack of clarity and factual errors mean the main features are not consistently highlighted or accurately reported. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the data points before writing and focus on clear, accurate comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'The fiinally was breakfast was 16%'. There is a lack of smooth transitions between ideas, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the three nutrients. The sentences often feel disjointed, and the overall structure lacks the cohesion required for a higher band. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'piie chars', 'breeakfast', 'hieghst', and 'consuumed'. You rely on basic phrasing to describe the data, such as 'second nmber was' and 'lowest part was'. There is little evidence of a range of vocabulary suitable for academic reporting. To reach a higher band, you should work on spelling accuracy and incorporate more precise academic collocations, such as 'accounted for', 'constituted', or 'represented', rather than repeating 'was' or 'accounted'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns will help you convey information more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The three pie chart illustrates'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'While the added sugar was snacks was dominant and hee sodium and saturated fat pie charts the snacks was smallest share of group'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors in articles and prepositions.
