Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three nutrients across the four meal types. You have successfully selected key data points for comparison, such as the high levels of sodium and saturated fat in dinner and the prevalence of added sugar in snacks. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by some inaccuracies in data reporting (e.g., stating added sugar is highest in 'sugar' instead of 'snacks') and a lack of clear synthesis in the final paragraph. To improve, ensure that all comparisons are precise and that the overview clearly highlights the most significant trends across all categories.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To the outset', which is not a standard phrase. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack smooth transitions, which occasionally disrupts the flow of information. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help your ideas connect more naturally and elevate your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'constituted', 'comparable', and 'nutrients'. However, there are some word choice errors and inaccuracies, such as 'recorded the highest amount in dinner' (should be 'at dinner') and 'highest amount in sugar' (referring to the category). There is also some repetition of basic verbs like 'had'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied ways to describe data trends would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, prepositions, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Which is around 43%...'). Some sentences are also missing necessary subjects or verbs, which makes the writing feel slightly disjointed. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring every sentence is complete will significantly improve your accuracy.
