Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to adequately address the task. While it mentions the three nutrients, it does not accurately report the data from the charts. The description of the trends is confusing and lacks a clear, logical summary of the main features. For instance, the statement that 'sodium has less percentage of snacks' is unclear, and the essay includes irrelevant personal advice about eating sugar rather than focusing on the data provided. The response lacks a clear overview and fails to make meaningful comparisons between the three meal types (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks).
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks a logical structure. Ideas are presented in a disjointed manner, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of information. Paragraphing is ineffective, and the use of cohesive devices is either missing or misused, such as the repetitive and awkward transitions between sentences. The text feels like a collection of loosely related sentences rather than a cohesive report. The lack of clear paragraph breaks and the absence of logical signposting significantly hinder the clarity of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There is significant repetition of basic words like 'meals', 'sugar', and 'nutrients'. The student struggles to use appropriate terminology to describe data, such as 'percentage' or 'proportion'. Phrases like 'health the health' and 'depends on the fat of there body weight' are nonsensical and demonstrate a lack of control over word choice and collocation. The vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information clearly or accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'sodium has less percentage'), incorrect word order, and misuse of prepositions. Sentence structures are simple and often fragmented or run-on. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces and missing commas. The lack of complex structures and the high frequency of basic errors make the text difficult to read and understand.
