The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Average percentages of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars in typical meals consumed in the USA

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given pie charts illustrate the average percentage of nutrition consumed by individual during different meals in a day.

Overall it can be seen that, sodium and saturated fats are consumed largely while sugar in snacks. In contrast all three nutrients occupy less percentage in breakfast in compare to other the meals.

It can be seen that, the amount of sodium in breakfast and snacks are equal which is about 14% while component of sodium in dinner and lunch are around 43% and 29% respectively.

Furthermore it can be observed that, saturated fat and added sugar have equal shares in breakfast which is about 16% . The amount of saturated fat in lunch, dinner, snacks is about 26%, 37%, 21% respectively while in case of added sugar it is about 19%, 23%, 42% respectively so it can seen snacks have high amount of added sugar than other meals. so this is overall distribution of nutrition in all meals.
