Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three nutrients across the four meal types. You successfully highlighted the key trends, such as sodium being highest at dinner and added sugar peaking in snacks. However, the report is somewhat mechanical; it lists data points rather than synthesising them into a more analytical summary. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping the data more effectively to highlight significant comparisons (e.g., contrasting the high sugar content in snacks with the low sodium content) rather than listing percentages for each meal sequentially.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into an introduction, an overview, and a detail paragraph, which provides a logical structure. You use cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Nevertheless', and 'Additionally' to link ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly repetitive or forced. The progression of ideas within the detail paragraph is a bit disjointed because you jump between nutrients and meal types frequently. Improving the flow by grouping information by nutrient or by comparing meal types more fluidly would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the necessary information. You use terms like 'proportion', 'consumption', and 'nutrients' correctly. However, there is a lack of variety in your verb choices; you rely heavily on 'consumed' and 'used'. Phrases like 'extremely lower scale' and 'extremely used' are unnatural and imprecise. To improve, try to incorporate more varied reporting verbs and adjectives to describe the data, such as 'accounted for', 'predominated', or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'sodium was mostly consumed by dinner' (should be 'at dinner') and 'saturated fat consumed by breakfast was only 16%' (missing 'the' or a verb). There are also issues with preposition usage and awkward phrasing, such as 'on extremely lower scale'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the accuracy of your writing. Focus on subject-verb agreement and more natural prepositional phrases.
