Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the charts but fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. While it mentions some data points, the selection of information is disjointed and lacks a logical comparison between the three nutrients. The description of the charts as 'very opposite to each other' is inaccurate and confusing. Furthermore, the response does not effectively group the data to show the main features, such as the dominance of sodium in dinner or added sugars in snacks. To improve, you should provide a clear summary statement after the introduction and focus on comparing the highest and lowest values across the categories rather than listing individual percentages in a fragmented manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' is mechanical and does not effectively connect the ideas. There is a lack of progression; the sentences feel like a list of isolated observations rather than a cohesive report. Referencing is also unclear at times, such as when you mention 'that chart' without specifying which one. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and use linking words more naturally to show relationships between the data points, such as 'in contrast,' 'whereas,' or 'similarly.'

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'rate,' 'high,' and 'low' to describe the data. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'food consumes more' (should be 'if more of these foods are consumed') and 'unfit for our health.' The phrasing 'very opposite to each other' is not appropriate for describing statistical charts. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'significant,' 'minimal,' 'account for,' and 'constitute.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'three different meals that shows'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'if all these food consumes'), and awkward sentence structures. The use of punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences, with few attempts at complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, before attempting more complex structures.
