Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. You have clearly highlighted the key trends, such as dinner being the primary source of sodium and saturated fats, while snacks dominate in added sugar. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that you avoid minor inaccuracies in data reporting; for instance, you stated that breakfast and snacks are both 14% for sodium, whereas the chart shows snacks at 14% and breakfast at 16%. Precision in data transcription is essential for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific nutrient breakdowns. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall,' 'For sodium,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that transitions between sentences are smoother to avoid a list-like feel in the body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information accurately, using terms like 'nutrients,' 'detrimental,' and 'consumed.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'most off the sodium' instead of 'most of the sodium' and 'at a dinner' instead of 'at dinner.' To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct preposition usage to enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation (e.g., missing spaces after commas and periods) and article usage (e.g., 'in USA' instead of 'in the USA'). There are also minor errors in subject-verb agreement and phrasing, such as 'these may be detrimental if consumed more.' Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic punctuation and article errors would significantly improve your score.
