Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The student attempts to address the task by reporting the data from the pie charts regarding sodium, saturated fat, and added sugars. However, there are significant weaknesses in meeting the requirements. The overview provided in the second sentence ('overall there is discuss the three things...') is extremely weak, highly informal, and fails to summarize the main trends effectively. Furthermore, the student introduces personal opinions and outside commentary that are not present in the charts, such as stating that people need to balance their diet because excess consumption is 'dangerous for human organ and it has many side effects.' While the key figures are mentioned, the lack of a proper overview and the inclusion of irrelevant personal commentary limits the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response shows severe structural deficiencies. The text is essentially presented as a single massive block of writing with improper paragraphing, as the student fails to use standard essay structure or logical breaks. Cohesive devices are either missing or highly repetitive and mechanical, relying heavily on words like 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'however' without proper punctuation or sentence separation. Sentences frequently run together into comma splices, making the logical progression difficult to follow. Referencing is also weak, with unclear pronoun usage throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and restricted. Words like 'percentage', 'dinner', 'lunch', and 'snack' are repeated constantly. There are numerous spelling mistakes ('illistruate', 'pf', 'eloborate', 'bases', 'dinnner', 'perentage', 'unhealty', 'dangerousfor', 'deit', 'himan', 'balnce', 'effect'), as well as word-form and word-choice errors ('sodium use on daily bases'). The student's lexical range is inadequate for an academic task, causing noticeable difficulty for the reader and falling short of the Band 5 threshold.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the text. The response contains pervasive errors, including severe punctuation issues, missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences, incorrect verb forms ('illistruate', 'have 43 percentage and lunch had 29 percentage'), and run-on sentences joined improperly with commas. There is a complete lack of accurate complex sentence structures, and basic subject-verb agreement is frequently violated ('the sodium percentage is 14 percentage also the dinner have 43 percentage'). These frequent errors severely impede communication and demonstrate control well below Band 5.
