Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar consumption across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. An overview is provided, noting that sodium and fat peak at dinner while sugar peaks during snacks. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and omissions in data reporting; for example, the writer mentions that sodium and fat percentages 'remain same in the breakfast and for the snack', which misreads the provided figures (14% vs 14% for sodium, but 16% vs 21% for fat). Furthermore, some values are stated without units (e.g. 'around 43 and 37'). Despite these minor flaws, the key comparisons are present and the data is generally addressed adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is structured with a basic introduction, an overview sentence, and supporting body paragraphs. However, paragraphing is underdeveloped, and the overall progression is somewhat disjointed. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'In most of the time it is observe that' and 'Conversely the quantity of fat...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical links between sentences lack smoothness. While the response has a recognizable structure, the mechanical use of cohesive devices and faulty transitions limit the score to a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is repetitive and limited in range. The student correctly uses basic terms like 'consumption', 'nutrients', and 'percentage', but attempts at less common vocabulary result in awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'highly consume', 'utilizes', and 'favours to eat'. Additionally, there are spelling and capitalization errors throughout the text, including 'breakfst', 'usa', and 'Usas'. While the meaning is generally communicated, the frequent lexical inaccuracies and lack of precision restrict the response to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'The chart illustrate' (instead of illustrates), 'are highly consume' (instead of are heavily consumed), and 'as compare to' (compared to). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent. Although some sentences are understandable, the high density of basic grammatical errors impedes fluency and frequently strains the reader.
